Obituaries of Note:

We regret to announce that Pierre-Gilles de Gennes, College de France, passed away on May 18, 2007.  Professor de Gennes was awarded the Award for Excellence in Adhesion Science, Sponsored by 3M, by The Adhesion Society in 2000, for his contribution to the understanding of molecular mechanisms of adhesion, especially through the notion of connector molecules.  He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1991.  Please go to http://www.nndb.com/people/816/000099519/ for a short bio of Professor de Gennes.
