The vitality of the Adhesion Society and our technical programs
are strongly linked to our ability to attract the next generation
of talented scientists and engineers to the field of adhesion
science and to support excellence in adhesion science research
through the presentation of national awards for excellence. Since
1985, the Society has funded programs to support the participation
of students in our annual meeting and the establishment of an
award program supported through funds generated from the
revenues of our technical meeting and membership fees.
In
order to sustain this activity and minimize pressures on the
Society operating budget, an endowment fund has been established
(Cleveland Foundation) that will be used exclusively to support
student participation in the meetings through travel grants
and the presentation of Adhesion Society awards. In this way,
only a portion of the interest from this professionally managed
endowment fund will be used for student support and awards while
the principal will remain untouched.
The fund goal is $150,000. In order
to establish the fund, the Adhesion Society has contributed
$10,000 from the revenues of our annual meeting to the endowment,
and will also solicit support of this endowment program through
member and corporate donations.
Contributions to this endowment are
tax-deductible to the fullest extent that the law allows.
The Adhesion Society is a
not-for-profit organization and may be eligible for corporate
matching funds as well. For tax purposes, donors write checks to
The Adhesion Society for the endowment.
